Review & Description

The new Astro Tech 2x Barlow Lens works great in diagonals of SCT and Refracting telescopes. Because of it's height it keeps the eyepiece height relatively low for increased observing comfort.

The Astro Tech Barlow lens works with all 1.25" eyepieces. By doubling the magnification of each eyepiece the Astro Tech Barlow lens will give you an entirely new span of magnification ranges with your existing eyepiece collection.

The Astro Tech Barlow lens contains two glass elements and is fully multi coated. Lens edges are blackened for maximum contrast while the body of the barlow lens is CNC Machined aluminum and anodized for a stellar look.

Review & Description

Astro Tech 2x ED Barlow Lens

The Astro Tech 2x ED Barlow lens is a great value in 2" ED Barlow Lenses. Below is a full write up of this item from the manufacturer.

The Astro-Tech AT22XB is a very high quality 2" Barlow with a 1.25" eyepiece adapter that will double the power of any 2" or 1.25" eyepiece it is used with. It uses a fully multicoated doublet optical system with an ED (Extra low Dispersion glass) element for true apochromatic (color-free) performance. The lens edges are blackened for high contrast. Color correction and sharpness are excellent. This 2" Astro-Tech Barlow adds nothing to your eyepiece image except an increase in magnification.

The body of this Astro-Tech 2" Barlow is CNC-machined from aluminum, hard anodized black for long life. The clear aperture is 37mm so that you can use wide-field 2" eyepieces without vignetting. Both the 2" Barlow itself and the supplied 1.25" eyepiece adapter use non-marring soft brass compression rings to hold your eyepieces securely in place. A knurled rubber grip ring in the body assures a firm grip on this 13.7 oz. Astro-Tech Barlow in cold or damp weather.
* 37mm of Clear Aperture

Review & Description

Walkstool is a unique company making an even more unique and extremely useful product. The Walkstool Comfort is born of fine Swedish engineering and provides a portable posterior platform - in other words, a seat for all occasions. Whereas a folding chair or stool is nothing new, this Walkstool's clever design makes it stand out from the rest. The two primary issues Walkstool's designers focused on were compact size and load strength and the final product reflects their careful engineering and dedication. The primary benefit of the Walkstool is the prevention of back strain or fatigue while keeping a person elevated to a comfortable height. This is useful for sports, event, and press photographers who spend many hours on their feet, squatting or on their knees. It is also good for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone who needs a seat in a location where a comfortable chair may be hard to come by. The Walkstool Comfort line features lightweight and ultra-portable stools with two height positions depending on whether the telescoping legs are extended or not. Transportation of these sub-two lbs stools is a breeze, as it collapses into a compact form that can be easily carried in a camera bag, backpack, or tool bag to be taken just about anywhere. The Comfort line improves on the Basic line with a larger seat, different size seat mesh material, and larger rubber feet to prevent the stool legs from getting stuck in the mud

Astro Tech Universal Dovetail Plate for Losmandy "D" Style Mount Saddles 7.9" Black ATDUPSB

Review & Description

Astro Tech Universal Dovetail Plate for Losmandy "D" Style Mount Saddles - 7.9" Long - Astro Tech part # ATDUPSB

This black Astro-Tech 7.9" short universal dovetail plate fits the dovetail slot of the D-Plate saddle used on current Losmandy G11, HGM Titan, and GM-8 German equatorial mounts. It will also fit older GM-8 mounts that have been upgraded to the wider-dovetail G11 saddle plate, as well as fitting Celestron CI-700, CGEM, CGE, and CGE Pro mounts.

The Astro-Tech short universal plate is designed primarily to hold the mounting rings of shorter focal length Astro-Tech, Tele Vue, Parks, Takahashi, Vixen, and Meade refractors. It will also hold the mounting rings of the smaller Astro-Tech, Questar, Meade, and Celestron catadioptric optical tubes.

The dovetail has a series of 19 un-threaded 6.9mm diameter mounting holes for attaching rings and other accessories using 1/4"-20 or metric bolts. One hole is on the plate's center line, plus there are 9 pairs of holes on 60mm centers extending the length of the plate. The engineering drawing in the feature image below shows the spacing of the mounting hole pairs. There is also a 0.25" wide x 5" long slot on the plate's center line. Its location is also shown in the engineering drawing. This combination of mounting holes and slot allows you to install virtually any configuration of mounting rings.

The holes and slots are all countersunk on the underside of the dovetail. This assures that the bolts holding the mounting rings will not protrude and keep the dovetail plate from sliding back and forth in the mount saddle for balancing. As a thoughtful touch, the corners of the dovetail are slightly rounded to keep them from digging into the saddle and hanging up if the dovetail is not perfectly straight when it is installed on the mount.

There is a 1/4"-20 thread hole at each end of the plate. This lets you thread 1/4"-2

Review & Description

For use with Military Night Vision Goggles. Switchable between 2 Green and 2 Infra-Red LEDs. The intensity is fully adjustable with Thumbwheel Brightness Control Use of blue-green is to protect night vision goggles, not unaided night vision! Most red filtered incandescent bulbs emit red and a lot of infra-red and therefore are easily visible in night vision goggles and would overload night vision goggles in the cockpit. Night vision goggles are not very sensitive in the blue-green part of the spectrum because they use blue-green cutoff filters. That's why blue-green is used in the cockpit. The military has split the spectrum giving blue-green to the unaided vision and yellow through infra-red to night vision goggles. MIL-STD 1472 makes another point, adjustability, one should be able to adjust the brightness to match the need. Regardless of color, if its bright enough to dazzle your eyes, it will affect your night vision, hence adjustability as per MIL-STD 1472. So for most of us, the answer is red and adjustable brightness for preserving night vision. The Infralite allows for full adjustability, as well as switchability to Green as well.
