Review & Description
Baader Planetarium U-Filter 2" (Venus, Ultraviolet, ZWL 350nm) FUV-2
Baader Planetarium has yet another revolutionary and exceptional filter to add to its line. The U-filter by Baader gives amateurs the ability to successfully image in the deep UV which is a spectral region normally inaccessible. For instance the UV Filter allows amateurs to record cloud structures on Venus.
Baaders Venus Filter transmits from 300nm to 400nm, with a peak transmission of 80% because of the latest coating technologies applied. Through the use of a complex 20 layer dielectric coating stack on top of a special optically polished UG-11 substrate, the filter completely blocks the rest of the region from 200nm to 1500nm. Deep violet colored filters or combinations with simple interference filters, typically used by amateurs, do not produce high transmission and efficient rejection outside the important spectral region from 320nm to 390nm. When it comes to exploring the UV world of landscape, forensic, and floral imaging, the U Filter has become the choice for UV imagers.
